Michigan storefront benchmark

ShelfMark

A storefront score should come with evidence.

The problem

A store audit is easy to fill with opinions. The harder part is applying the same checks to every store and showing where each conclusion came from.

The solution

I built ShelfMark around a fixed public-page rubric. Its September 2026 edition compares 21 Michigan storefronts across 29 checks, with source evidence, report cards, and a calculator that uses the same scoring method.

One rubric, five perspectives

The workflow

Start with the index. Sort by a pillar or filter the stores to compare relevant examples.

Open a report card and follow the evidence behind a score. Review the strengths and prioritised fixes.

Use the score-your-store calculator with your own site open. Choose met, partly met, failed, or unverified for each check.

Read coverage alongside the score. Unverified checks do not count for or against a store, and this published edition describes an audit snapshot rather than a live monitor.

A conversation is a good place to start.
