A shopper picked your Sour Diesel cart. Your site sent them to a homepage.
The Last Mile traces the trip from a product page on mittenextracts.com to a licensed shelf at one of the 473 Michigan dispensaries that stock Mitten. One product, hop by hop, with a fix you test on this page.
Start here, in plain words
Four things to know before the numbers.
Mitten does not sell online. Shoppers find a product on mittenextracts.com, then go to a dispensary to buy. That trip, from product page to store shelf, is the last mile.
Today the last mile has gaps. The product page links to retailer homepages, not to the product. The store finder lists stores, not stock. The FAQ tells shoppers to use Weedmaps.
Other sites fill the gap. Search "buy mitten extracts online" and 7 of the top 10 results are stores with no connection to Mitten, selling under the Mitten name with add-to-cart buttons.
This page shows the problem, measures it, and demonstrates a fix: a per-product "available near you" path that lands on the exact item at a licensed retailer.
What a shopper sees today
Traced on the Sour Diesel 1g Vape Cartridge page, the SKU that fell 32.9% month over month in September 2026 per Headset.
- 00

The product page
Image, strain type, three terpenes, three effects, a two-sentence description. No price, no potency, no lab result, no stock.
- 01

"Buy at Skymint"
Lands on skymint.com, the homepage. King of Budz, Cloud, Bloomery and Trap Stars do the same. Jars, Puff and Quality Roots open a store list. Eight links, none carry the product.
- 02

Pick a store
The retailer asks for a location before showing a menu.
- 03

Open the menu, type "Mitten"
The shopper rebuilds the search Mitten's site already had.
- 04

Scan the results
The Skymint search for "Mitten" listed Mitten products first. The same menu sells other brands, such as North and Edible Gem. Michigan's average vape item sells for $10.58, and MKX leads the category at a lower price tier.
- 05

Find the cart, if the store has it
Google still indexes a retailer product page for this exact SKU. On Oct 25, 2026 that page returned 404.
Why it happens
Static retailer links
The "Buy at" list is eight hard-coded retailer URLs, homepages and store lists, repeated on every product. No product, store or stock parameter travels with the click.
A store finder without stock
The locator maps stores. The product page embeds the same widget. Neither says which store has this SKU, or when a store last received it.
Catalog gaps
On the cartridges collection, 21 of 43 products show no effects and most 2g carts show no strain type. The type filter lists "Indica" twice because the catalog stores both "Indica" and "indica". Shoppers who filter never see the newest SKUs.
Nothing tells search engines which site is real
No structured data, no social preview image, and "Translation missing" strings in the footer on every page. The FAQ says "we recommend using Weedmaps", so the brand's own site declines the buy intent and other sites take it.
The gap someone else filled

You may not know this site exists. It sells under the Mitten name, and it does not match Mitten's official channels.
I found this store while searching "buy mitten extracts online". It ranked third. Here is what does not line up with Mitten's own site and its sales rules.
- The name. The header reads "Mitten Extracts" on mittenextractstore.com. Mitten's official site is mittenextracts.com.
- A full online catalog. The shop shows 136 products. Mitten's FAQ says it sells only to licensed dispensaries in Michigan.
- The photos. The product photos show Mitten packaging. One image on its homepage is named mitten-collection-cartridges_750x, the same name as an image file on Mitten's own store.
- Prices and checkout. Items list at $15 to $20 with Add to cart buttons, a cart and a checkout page.
- The contact details. The homepage shows three testimonials signed Emily Carter, Sophia Lee and James Wilson, a street address in Barryton, MI, and an admin@ email on the same domain.
- The sales rule. Michigan allows cannabis sales only through licensed retailers to in-state customers. An open online checkout does not fit that rule.
I did not buy anything, and I did not check whether this site ships. This is a record of what I saw, not a legal finding. Your team or counsel may want to take a look. The Impostor Watch sheet in the workbook lists all seven domains I found.
One store lists 136 products at $15 to $20 with a Barryton, MI address. One of its images carries a file name from Mitten's own Shopify store. Michigan allows cannabis sales only through licensed retailers to in-state customers, so a site shipping "to your door" is either not selling cannabis or not selling legally. This page records the domains as observed facts. Whether any of them ships a product is outside what this review verified.
The shopper who buys there
Gets an unverified product with Mitten's name on the label and blames Mitten for the result.
The shopper who notices
Loses trust in every Mitten link, including the real ones.
The search engine
Learns that "buy mitten extracts" belongs to those domains. That ranking is slow to take back.
Why the usual fixes fall short
Moves the hand-off one site over. Weedmaps shows competitors on the same screen, and the placement is paid.
Needed, and slow. Domains reappear under new names. A takedown removes a wrong answer without supplying the right one.
Lists more stores faster, still without stock. The shopper still searches a menu by hand.
Helps the pitch, not the path. The last hop is the problem, not the first.
The Last Mile Tracer
Pick a product and a Michigan ZIP. The tracer walks the shopper's path today, then the proposed path, and counts hops, decisions and leak points. Store data here is sample data. The hop logic matches what was observed on the live site.
Diagnose, decide, check
The tools share one product list and one retailer list. Nothing is counted twice.
Hand-off Audit
For each retailer link on a product page: where the click lands, hops to the product, score 0 to 3.
- Preloaded with the 8 links observed
- Add a retailer, paste a URL
- Output: audit table, average score
The Last Mile Tracer
Today versus proposed for any product and ZIP, plus a data-source recommendation based on how many stores run each menu system.
- Reads the audit scores from tool A
- Exports a trace
- Feeds the Deep-Link Map sheet
Catalog Completeness Check
Load the product list, get the missing-field count and a fix list: type, effects, terpenes, weight, lab-result link, casing.
- Preloaded with the 43 cartridges observed
- Flags "Indica" and "indica" as one bug
- Output: fix list CSV

The decision that matters: where "available near you" comes from
| Option | Coverage | Freshness | Cost to run | Risk |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| A. Weedmaps brand embed | Stores that list on Weedmaps | Retailer-updated | Paid placement | Competitors on the same screen |
| B. Manual deep-link table | Any retailer with a public menu | Goes stale in weeks | Staff hours | Dead links, like the 404 found |
| C. Menu-platform APIs (Dutchie, Jane) | Only stores on those platforms | Live | Partner program, dev time | Coverage unknown until counted |
| D. Mitten Distro shipment data | All 473 stocking stores | "Last shipped" date, not live stock | One export a week | A store sells out before the shopper arrives |
Choice: D now, C where it exists. Mitten already knows which store received which SKU and when. Show that as "last shipped 6 days ago", link to the store's menu search for the SKU, and upgrade to a live link for stores whose menu platform supports product deep links. Honest labels beat precise promises the brand cannot keep.
Tradeoff: no live stock on day one. What would change it: if more than 60% of the 473 stores run a platform with a brand API, start with C.
The Last Mile Audit
One question: for Mitten's top 20 SKUs, where does every retailer link land, which stores last received each SKU, and what link should each product carry?
What you get
- Deep-Link Map: 20 SKUs by stocking retailer, with the link each product should carry
- Hand-off Audit for every retailer link on those 20 pages
- Catalog fix list applied in Shopify: type, effects, terpenes, casing
- Structured data patch: Organization, Product, sameAs, verified retailers
- A one-page unaffiliated-domains report for counsel
What I need
- Shopify admin, read access to products and theme
- Google Search Console, read access
- Mitten Distro shipment export: store, SKU, date, last 60 days
- The current retailer list
Not included: menu-platform integration build, legal action, paid media.
Terms, proposed
$1,500
Fixed fee, 10 working days from access.
Judge it by: every top-20 product page carries a link that lands on the product at one or more retailers; zero products missing type or effects; the brand search result shows the official site with sitelinks.
Where every number comes from
Observed means seen on the page that day. Modeled means calculated with a stated method. Sample means invented for the demo and labeled.

- Time model: 4 seconds per page load, 10 seconds per decision screen. An assumption, stated so you replace it with your analytics.
- Store names, distances and shipment dates in the tracer are sample data.
What this demo cannot prove: conversion lift, revenue recovered, or that any unaffiliated domain ships product. Those need internal data and a legal review.
