# Campaign Release Studio — image provenance and rights record

Checked 2026-10-01. Prepared for an independent application/portfolio prototype, with two original campaign contexts: `weekend-drive` and `water-days`. These photographs are illustrations, not employer inventory. Source originals and evidence are retained separately from responsive display derivatives. No images were taken from the employer's inventory or manufacturer press library.

## Selection and delivery

Four final photographs are visually inspected and selected. Rights metadata is in `assets/selected-manifest.json`; original acquisition records, including unused candidates, are in `assets/manifest.json`. The individual source HTML is preserved in `evidence/`. SHA-256 hashes for every saved evidence file are in `evidence/snapshot-manifest.json`. Photographer credits should appear in the app's source/credits view even though the photo copyright license does not require attribution.

Every selected individual source identifies the creator, declares `https://unsplash.com/license` as its photo copyright license, and reports free accessibility. None is an Unsplash+ or editorial-only selection. Visual Wrangler/Ram identity is supported by both source captions/tags and the actual photograph. That is not a certification of trim, model year, features, authenticity, inventory ownership or current availability. The boat and marina are explicitly generic illustrations.

## Copyright permission and separate rights

The [official Unsplash License](https://unsplash.com/license) permits downloading, modifying and using these photographs for commercial and noncommercial purposes without a required attribution. It does not permit selling essentially unaltered copies or assembling a competing image service. This project uses display derivatives within an original prototype, retaining photographer credits. Evidence: `evidence/unsplash-license.html` and `evidence/unsplash-terms.html` ([terms](https://unsplash.com/terms)).

[Unsplash's official releases and trademarks guidance](https://help.unsplash.com/en/articles/2612329-releases-and-trademarks) distinguishes photograph copyright from privacy/publicity, trademark and property rights. **Photo copyright permission is verified; depicted trademark, person and property permissions are not.** There is no verified manufacturer endorsement, dealer authorization or model/property release. This record is not a claim of complete legal clearance for every possible use.

Use the pictures as labeled illustrations in the independent prototype, accompanied by the existing independent/demo identity. Do not imply that Jim Riehl's, Unriehl, Jeep, Ram or a boat manufacturer owns, supplied, approved or endorses these assets or the prototype. Do not attach actual stock status, offer pricing, availability, financing terms, exact equipment, towing/cargo capacity, fishing suitability or performance claims to a pictured object. The marine assets illustrate an exploratory boating conversation; they do not depict confirmed Sunsation or Caymas inventory. Any move to actual dealer advertising must separately confirm the needed depicted-rights/brand permissions and a truthful match to campaign inventory.

## Employer and OEM checks

The current public [Jim Riehl's group site](https://jimriehl.com/) and [inventory page](https://jimriehl.com/inventory/) were checked for context; their navigation supports Jeep/Ram relevance. These pages are evidence of brand context only, not reuse permission. Saved source: `evidence/employer-home.html` and `evidence/employer-inventory.html`. No dealership photographs, current incentive or live inventory listing were copied into the assets.

The official [Stellantis North America legal notices and terms](https://blog.stellantisnorthamerica.com/legal-notices-and-terms/) restrict the press site's material to the stated media/editorial purposes and do not grant commercial reuse or trademark rights. Accordingly, OEM press images were excluded. Saved terms: `evidence/stellantis-terms.html`. Other OEM libraries were not pursued once the chosen automotive scope was Jeep/Ram; no Cadillac/Honda/Chrysler asset clearance is claimed.

Pexels was considered, but the individual-source HTTP requests returned 403. No Pexels photographs were acquired or used, and no challenge or access restriction was bypassed. Paid libraries were not purchased. No contributor, employer or manufacturer was contacted.

## Responsive derivatives

Pillow performs orientation normalization, proportional downscaling and WebP encoding only. There is no AI generation, retouching, logo removal or invented photographic detail. All delivered variants preserve the full source aspect ratio; the app can set deliberate CSS crops using documented focal points. `prepare-responsive-assets.py` regenerates these display files from the local sources without networking.

| ID | 640 px width | 1200 px width | 1800 px width | Suggested object position |

Files use `assets/responsive/{id}-{width}.webp`. Exact sizes and hashes are recorded in the selected manifest. For the narrow Wrangler portrait, preserve a generous image area or check any landscape crop closely: the car sits in the lower-middle region. Never assume a caption/tag alone proves a subject or an appropriate crop.

## Rejected or unused candidates

- Sandro Gonzalez, [purported speedboat](https://unsplash.com/photos/speedboat-at-sea-during-daytime-MN09l5h1Pg8): the downloaded photo actually depicts a cargo/container ship. Explicitly rejected after visual inspection, despite the source's speedboat caption. `marine-aerial.jpg` is not for the app.
- Paul C, [Jeeps in a grassy field](https://unsplash.com/photos/two-jeeps-are-parked-in-a-grassy-field-Q8hrdqWGQjY): highly modified vehicles with prominent third-party sponsor and club graphics. Rejected for this campaign's generic vehicle illustration.
- Greg Rosenke, [red Wrangler detail](https://unsplash.com/photos/red-jeep-wrangler-plPyiGCx6vs): optional unused detail photograph; modified lighting and graphics make it unsuitable for unverified equipment claims.
- Johnyvino, [speedboat in turquoise waters](https://unsplash.com/photos/speedboat-navigates-through-beautiful-turquoise-waters-tsI5PzzWJbE): unused in favor of the cleaner distant aerial composition; visible people and resort setting complicate this generic context.

## Marine display font

Cormorant Garamond is acquired from the [official Google Fonts repository](https://github.com/google/fonts/tree/main/ofl/cormorantgaramond), with the unchanged [SIL Open Font License](https://raw.githubusercontent.com/google/fonts/main/ofl/cormorantgaramond/OFL.txt). Local files: `assets/fonts/CormorantGaramond-wght.ttf` and `assets/fonts/OFL-CormorantGaramond.txt`. The font's copyright notice names the Cormorant Project Authors. The OFL allows bundling/embedding with the notices retained and prohibits selling the font alone. Use an intentional display role with a Georgia/serif fallback; the font is not intended as the operational UI's small text face. No font package was installed or new dependency added.

The recommended production webfont is `assets/fonts/cormorant-garamond-latin-wght-normal.woff2` (Latin, normal, variable weight 300–700, 37776 bytes). It is downloaded directly from the official `fonts.gstatic.com` URL declared in `evidence/cormorant-google-fonts.css`; no runtime Google Fonts request is needed. Its source URL and hash are in `assets/fonts/manifest.json`. Retain `OFL-CormorantGaramond.txt` in the app distribution.

## Verified marine outbound destination

Checked 2026-10-01: the [Unriehl homepage](https://unriehlperformance.com/) navigation links `Current Inventory` to `/current-inventory`. The [actual inventory page](https://unriehlperformance.com/current-inventory) returned HTTP 200 with the title `Current Inventory — UNRIEHL Performance`. The local prototype links to this external page; it does not import its stock or represent any image as its inventory. Evidence is preserved in `evidence/unriehl-home.html` and `evidence/unriehl-current-inventory.html`.

## Local app distribution

The original asset/evidence paths in this record are relative to `work/campaign-upgrade/` in the working project. Deployed display derivatives are under `public/media/`; the webfont is under `public/fonts/`; its unchanged OFL notice is `public/licenses/Cormorant-Garamond-OFL.txt`. The selected acquisition record is preserved here as `selected-manifest.json`. The originals and HTML snapshots are retained in the working project and are not bundled into the public app.
